Masters Womens Indoor - Managers Report

Published Sat 19 Feb 2022

Hi Ian,

Hopefully not too confusing, this was the 2021 Indoor championships that was delayed from the end of last year.

Masters Women Division 1 finished 2nd - I will bring the trophy to the next meeting.

Now because Mell Brewin had been supporting the Masters teams for several years, I didn't realise until the end of the weekend that this was her first Masters competition to play in.  Mell's youth and stamina was obvious to some of the 'oldies' but her skills were on point this weekend and she deserved to shine.  They won each of their games (5) quite comfortably with only 1 loss.  Only one team was able to put real pressure on them and it was our old rivals SEHA (Sydney East).  After many years of success for us, this year they were able to score against us to win.  Next year will be game on!

Coach:  Chloe Williams

Manager:  Jennifer O'Toole

Results:

Game 1 v Metro South West 1 was 4-2 win

Game 2 v Illawarra South Coast 1 was 4-3 win

Game 3 v Sydney East 1 was 1-2 loss

Game 4 v Manning Valley 1 was 7-0 win

Game 5 v Sydney South 1 was 5-2 win

Game 6 v Bathurst 1 was 5-1 win

Masters Women Division 2 finished 6th.  1 win, 3 draws and only 1 loss playing against some association's top team.  Great camaraderie and sportsmanship.

Coach:  Maleah Kennedy

Manager:  Jennifer O'Toole

Results:

Game 1 v Goulburn 1 was 1-1 draw

Game 2 v Dubbo 1 was 2-3 loss

Game 3 v Southern Highlands 1 was 2-2 draw

Game 4 v Sydney South 2 was 5-2 win

Game 5 playoff for 6th/7th v North West Sydney 1 was 2-2 draw.  We were ahead on goal difference so placed 6th overall.

We had some ladies miss out on playing this year and will likely need to register three (3) teams for the championships that will be held later this year.
